Making Cake

In Chapter 3, Garvey compares life to a cake. Not all of the ingredients “taste good,” but when they are all baked together, they make something wonderful. Some of the ingredients in Cole’s cake (or life) are hard for him to swallow. In this chapter the author uses foreshadowing and metaphor to indicate that some of the hard times Cole has been through are going to make him a better person when they are combined with future experiences. What are some of the ingredients in your life that have been hard to go through, but might make you a better person in the future? What are some of the ingredients in your cake?

the hardest thing ever to happen in my life that still makes me a better person is when my mom and dad splite up it was vary hard for me and my sisters growing up because my had to work 3 jobs and slept all day when she came home form work it was just my older that was juust ten years old trying to help out my mom with 3 kids that where 2 mouths and 8 and 9 it vary hard for us just to get by
Going to summer school heiped me do better in classes that I failed.
